Scot asked:
consumer insurance that covers the massive amount of possible money it takes to repair them? Thank you for your time and input

It’s not the repair you have to worry about, it’s the “oops I lost them”. I don’t know of any consumer based insurance coverage - you can’t charge enough premiums to cover the losses.
But you can check with your credit cards, to see if there’s a plan they’d offer against loss or damage, if you put it on a card. Or, you can check with the hearing aid provider. If ANYONE has any kind of protection plan, they would - but it probably won’t cover “oops I lost it”.

Most of the insurance companies I represent that have a Homowner’s/Tenant’s/Condo policy have coverage for Hearing Aids written on a personal property floater basis attached to one of the policies mentioned above. This means worldwide coverage at a reduced or no deductible. However no policy covers mechanical or electrical breakdown, so this coverage is good if you lose them, but if they need repair because they broke or broke down then you will have to pay for the repairs out of pocket.

Most hearing aids come with repair and loss/damage warranty that is typically for 2 years depending upon the manufacturer and also if your hearing professional offers anything in addition. Repairs occurring within this time are typicallly free. If you lose or damage your hearing aid (accidentally step on it), there is a small fee required to completely replace the hearing aid.
In addition to their are hearing aid insurance policies you can purchase. Most hearing professionals will deal with one or two and they are an additional charge. Fore more information on hearing aid warranties and additional coverage you can read:.
