well I haven’t learned anything about deafness in any class, but since i’m deaf myself, THe reason why i’m deaf is because the hair cells in my ear died and I really don’t know why it caused me to be deaf, but After i had a high fever when i was like 4, I lost ALL of my hearing in my right ear, and i was put on the top of the waiting list for a cochlear implant and was implanted shortly before kindergarten started and have been happy with the cochlear implant for 9 years so far. Man! i really should know more about my problem!
