I believe there are hearing aide dealers still, but the vast majority of hearing aides are prescribed and fitted by audiologists. Digital ones are the best. There are a lot of different kinds of hearing aides (behind the ear, in the ear, in the canal) that can have a lot of different programs and amounts of power. There have been a lot of advances in the last 5-10 years, so if he didn’t like it back then he might want to look at them again. For almost all of the kinds of hearing aides, he would need to go in to get an ear mold so it fits exactly to his ear. This would make it hard to buy one for him. I would also think that he would want to choose.
Just a word of warning: I haven’t looked at it, but I think you can buy them on ebay, but many say “programmable” which sounds good, but usually means they are not the most recent digital ones.
