Hearing aids don’t put out RF so they wouldn’t interfere with anything. You might want to protect your good ear with a sound reducing plug so you don’t damage it.

I agree 100% with PJH- protecting the hearing you have is most important!! And no, a hearing aid wont mess up anything onstage.

This depends on whether you have a pocket transmitter. This is a very unusual situation and I have only worked with one musician that had one, but he was trying to squeeze a couple more years out of his career and was highly respected in our circles. We could not use anything FM on the stage, but it wasn’t much of an issue anyway because this was long before the age of wireless everything. He did not use a monitor, but managed to hang in there without one. Our sound guy offered to rig him a direct feed but he politely declined and we just went back to the rehearsal. He was the oldest guy on the stage, but he seemed to have the most energy.

Two more things. If you are on stage and are not wearing hearing protection, get some immediately. They’ve got plugs that just knock out the highs and lows, so you can still hear the music that’s up there without killing any cilia. If you are going to get hearing aids, make sure you tell your audiologist what you are using them for. Depending on the type of hearing loss you are experiencing, he or she may recommend a separate set for on stage use. I have tinnitus, but oddly enough, I got it from too many bouts of Bronchitis. I also have scar tissue in my ears from receiving the wrong medication for Pneumonia when I was a kid. Take care of your ears, no matter how much a pain it is. I don’t know about you, but without them, my career is over and I ain’t no Beethoven!

It’s actually reverse — the music equipment can ***** up your hearing aid, but not vice versa. BTW, if you are only losing your hearing on one side, you might want to check into three special types of hearing aids created exactly for this condition: one is called a Trans-ear, the other two (which are surgically implanted) are called BAHA and Vibrant Soundbridge.
