Teens wearing hearing aids?
Jake H asked:
So I am 18 and I got my first pair of hearing aids about 6 months ago. It has been hard for me to wear them and not wonder what people think when they see them. I know this sounds silly but I cant help it, I want to know what most people think when they see someone (younger, like a teenager) with hearing aid. Any answers are welcome as long as they are honest.
I would say they might be like braces, but nothing like glasses.

Glasses are accessories, everyone wears them.

They are no difference than glasses or braces.
You need them - so don’t be shy or embarrassed - if you don’t notice them others won’t either.

I would think that they had some type of hearing loss and were using a hearing aid to be able to hear clearly.
In other words, it wouldn’t bother me at all.
If people are unable to accept you as you are, hearing aids and all; it is their problem and their loss.
Have a good day and enjoy being able to hear more clearly.

Honestly you are lucky to have gotten them at 18. The younger years in elementary school is when there is a lot of trouble. I wore hearing all my life from 3 years old and am 26 now. In high school and college it was not an issue at all. People are sometimes curious about your story and ask questions. After awhile you will get used to it and it won’t bother you if they ask. Anyone who doesnt want to be your friend/BF/GF whatever isn’t worth knowing anyway.
