I would not recommend “cheap” hearing aids. In my opinion, there is simply no such thing.
I have been wearing hearing aids all my life. I just got new ones…and it was $5000 for the pair.
Hearing aids must be custom fitted and then programmed to your type of hearing loss. Your hearing will have to be tested beforehand.
My advice is to contact an audiologist and see what your options are. There are many brands out there that work well and last a long tim (the average lifespan of a hearing aid is 5 years). My new ones are Seimens. I have used this brand before and I’m happy with them.

First off you only want to go with digital aids. As with everything else Analog is going out the window and will no longer be available soon. For a digital hearing aid the price ranges from about $3000 to $6000 for a pair of hearing aids. With the more expensive you get more features out of the hearing aid such as automatic functions where the hearing aid will make decisions and change programs for you when you enter a noisy environment.
With your hearing aid purchase you are getting a “package” deal that includes the professional who is fitting the hearing aids. At my practice each patient will get an unlimited number of visits to your audiologist for the for the life of the aid for anything the audiologist can do to repair the aid in office, reprogram, clean and check etc. You get a 2 or 3 year warranty from the manufacturer for repair and loss and damage. You also get a year supply of free batteries. These extras make a difference because after you spent several thousand dollars on hearing aids you don’t want to spend another $30 every time you go back to the audiologist or $200-$300 for a repair.
