If you think you have hearing problems, you should consider seeing an audiologist or ear/nose/throat doctor and have your hearing tested.

Hi. Here is what I found that helps:

Sit up close, in the front seat. This puts you closer to your teachers, and will also help you in trying to follow the teachers lips when your trying to read them.

Be Communicative. Let the teacher know that you are hard of hearing. That you need to read lips to communicate and that you want to do the best you can in class as possible. Ask the teacher if there is anyone who you can copy notes from. Most teachers will honor and respect the fact that you want to do well in class, and help you find someone who takes effective notes.

Asking questions in class in fine, but if you ask a teacher to repeat themselves too many times they can get irritated. That is why getting notes from someone would be a benefit.

It is better to accept that you are hard of hearing and need as much help as anyone will give.

If you keep wishing for a “normal” life, you will only keep getting yourself upset and depressed. A cure for deafness will come, until then, do the best you can.

If people get irritated with you, then obviously they have a problem and it most likely has nothing to do with you. Remember though that hearing loss is not a visable disability, and most people will not recognize that you are wearing hearing aids.

If I have to ask someone to repeat themselves, I make a movement with my hand toward my ears and turn my head to they can see my aids. But really, most people are just stupid and have a high sense of self-worth, dont let them bother you.

Just be good to yourself, and happiness will follow.
